The Festival

Produced by Detour Films with the help of our team, collaborators, and sponsors, the Peruvian Film Festival aims to create a vibrant and engaging cultural experience that celebrates Peruvian cinema while fostering community connections in Toronto.

Detour Films, founded by José Ridoutt Polar, an international film programmer, producer, distributor, and director of numerous “Making of” Peruvian films, as well as Ojos que sí ven: El cine de Lombardi, a documentary screened at more than 30 film festivals. Since 2004, as a member of the programming committee of the Lima Film Festival, he has focused on curating national cinematographies and programming a cycle of the best of international cinema. We look forward to sharing these powerful stories.

Welcome

The Second edition of The Peruvian Film Festival in Toronto!

Following a successful inaugural year, the festival returns to the iconic Carlton Cinema in downtown Toronto, once again welcoming audiences from across the city to experience a vibrant program of films and cultural events in celebration of Peru’s national month.

This year’s edition presents a carefully curated selection of 24 films. From renowned classics to contemporary gems, the festival showcases some of the finest works in Peruvian cinema—both feature films and documentaries—all presented with English subtitles.

We are especially honoured to welcome Salvador del Solar as our Guest of Honour. He will present and introduce his latest directorial work, Ramon y Ramon.

I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to our sponsors, whose support has been essential in bringing this festival to life.

My deepest thanks go to our dedicated planning team, as well as to my family and friends, for their unwavering support throughout this journey.

Enjoy Peruvian cinema.

Jose Ridoutt Polar
