Un cineasta peruano radicado en Alemania regresa a la Amazonía para reencontrarse con su familia mientras documenta la campaña política de su padre, candidato por Fuerza Popular. El documental observa de cerca una contienda austera y revela las tensiones entre lo personal, la migración y la polarización política contemporánea.
A Peruvian filmmaker living in Germany returns to the Amazon to reconnect with his family while documenting his father’s political campaign as a candidate for Fuerza Popular. The documentary closely observes a modest campaign and reveals the tensions between personal life, migration, and contemporary political polarization.

The Director
Martín Rebaza Ponce de León (Trujillo, Perú) es psicólogo de formación, fotógrafo y cineasta autodidacta. Fundador de la plataforma La Oveja Negra, dedicada a documentar la escena musical independiente de su ciudad, ha integrado diversas asociaciones culturales, combinando su labor artística con trabajos en agencias de publicidad en Perú y Alemania. Fue docente de fotografía en el Centro de Artes Visuales Número y dictó talleres de cine documental a mujeres de la comunidad Awajún en La Rioja, San Martín. Participó en la programación del Festival de Cine de Trujillo y trabajó en cine como director de fotografía. En 2021 estrenó Entre estos árboles que he inventado.
Martín se desempeña como director, guionista, montajista y director de fotografía. En el 2019, produjo y fue director de fotografía de En medio del laberinto seleccionada en el Festival de Cine de Mar de Plata (2019) y en el Festival de Cine de Rotterdam (2020). Su ópera prima Entre estos árboles que he inventado tuvo su estreno internacional en el Festival Biarritz Amérique Latine (2021). Ha obtenido en cuatro oportunidades estímulos económicos del Ministerio de Cultura del Perú para la realización de sus obras y ha sido también ganador del estímulo alemán “Kultur stiftung des Freistaates Sachsen” para desarrollar el guion de su siguiente largometraje en Leipzig, ciudad donde reside actualmente.
Martín Rebaza Ponce de León (Trujillo, Peru) is a psychologist by training, a self-taught photographer, and a filmmaker. Founder of the platform La Oveja Negra (The Black Sheep), dedicated to documenting the independent music scene in his city, he has been involved with various cultural associations, combining his artistic work with jobs at advertising agencies in Peru and Germany. He taught photography at the Centro de Artes Visuales Número (Number Visual Arts Center) and led documentary filmmaking workshops for women from the Awajún community in Rioja, San Martín. He participated in the programming of the Trujillo Film Festival and worked in film as a director of photography. In 2021, he premiered Entre estos árboles que he inventado (Among These Trees I Have Invented).
Martín works as a director, screenwriter, editor, and director of photography. In 2019, he produced and was the director of photography for En medio del laberinto (In the Middle of the Labyrinth), which was selected for the Mar del Plata Film Festival (2019) and the Rotterdam Film Festival (2020). His debut feature film, Entre estos árboles que he inventado (Among These Trees I Have Invented), had its international premiere at the Biarritz Amérique Latine Festival (2021). He has received financial support from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture on four occasions for the production of his works and was also awarded the German grant “Kultur stiftung des Freistaates Sachsen” to develop the screenplay for his next feature film in Leipzig, the city where he currently resides.
